Unseelie Faerie (2004-5)Two things inspired this outfit: a Cirque du Soleil costume with the bones of the farthingale on the outside of the skirt, and the discovery of electroluminescent wire. It went through several iterations before I found one that let me run a single length of wire (so I didn't have to have multiple inverters and battery packs), and also collapse the hoops down to pack flat.
I made the horns out of Sculpey clay, but the other accessories were acquired from various sources. The brass filigree mask came from Brazin Lady, the wings were standard costume wings I got on eBay, then outlined with more EL wire, and the black claw gloves were inherited from another costuming friend. The whole thing is powered by 16 AA batteries worn in a belt pouch around my waist: 8 for the skirt and 8 for the wings. |
